Catalog Item Description
Description
Welcome to the Florida Department of Transportation’s computer-based training on Asphalt Paving Level I. Asphalt Paving, Level I is geared toward the asphalt paving novice – someone with little prior knowledge of paving who needs to learn the basics. The course introduces students to the different types and uses of asphalt (for example, that used for the driving surface of a vehicular highway vs. that used for an airport runway). It delves into the components of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA); the methods for testing the quality of asphalt (random sampling, coring); the quality checks for finished roadway surfaces (calculating cross slope, rolling straight edge); and last but not least, the intricacies of yield calculations (how much asphalt or tack to use for an area).

The CTQP Instructor-Led course and exams have been updated since the creation of this CBT.  While most information contained in this training is still correct and current, some changes and updates have been made and the exams changed to reflect the recent course changes (as was announced on the CTQP website).  The most current course information is available in a “PDF” format at the following website: http://www.ctqpflorida.com/books/course_materials.asp

We are working to update these CBTs to reflect the most current materials taught in our instructor-led courses.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
